How to create your 3D auction, step by step

25 Jul

This page describes in detail, how you can set up your 3d auction in three easy steps…

Step one: Take pictures of your auction item 31 Jan

  • Preparation
    1. Put a white cover on a table
    2. Place your auction item on the table
  • Take the pictures
    1. The camera should be fixed (on the table or on a stand)
    2. Take the first picture
    3. Turn the item clockwise for some degrees (e.g. a 1/6 turn = 360/6 degree = 60 degree, this should give 6 pictures as in the given example) and take the next picture
    4. Turn the item even more and take the next picture, until you have reached one turn before start
      OK?

  • Important hints
    1. The more pictures you take, the more “fluent” will the 3d auction be!
    2. You can take up to 16 pictures for one 3d auction. Just play with it and figure out the best number of pictures.

Step two: Load the pictures to our server 31 Jan

  • Preparation
  1. Save the pictures in a folder on your PC.
  2. Name your pictures as Picture_1.jpg to Picture_Count.jpg (e.g. my3dWatch_1.jpg to my3dWatch_10.jpg, if you have created ten pictures of your watch, which you would like to display as a 3d auction!)
  3. Resize you pictures: The pictures must not be greater in size of 20 KB and not greater than 450×450 pixel each! You can resize the pictures in a graphic program with one of those tools:

A) FREE Visualizer tool (my recommendation!)
This tool is a great thing for resizing ALL your pictures in once! You can preset the required parameters, point to you picture folder and visualizer resizes the pictures and saves them into a new folder (e.g. my3dPictureFolder/resized). EASY! You can download it here… Just follow the download and installation instructions, then start it and apply the following parameters to it:

B) Paint, which comes with MS Windows:
This is a little bit more “tricky”, since you have to open each picture one by one, resize (skew) it and save it as jpg (not available in older Windows versions!)
Then you must validate the file size in the file explorer and go back to Paint and make it smaller, if it is still greater than 20 KB.

  • Upload
This step will be done in your member area (there is a link to create a new 3d auction. To see it, you must login first!)

There is an easy upload form, which lets you chose the pictures of your 3d auction. Just enter the names of your pictures in the corresponding field (e.g. 1. Picture = first picture of your 3d auction!):

Press the botton Upload pictures and your 3d auction is ready!

  • Important hints
    1. You can preview your 3d auction and change uploaded pictures accordingly.

Step three: Add the pre-generated link to your ebayTM auction 31 Jan

You will receive an email with a pre-generated link to your 3d auction. It will look like this:

  • Integrate the link into your ebayTM auction
    1. Open your ebayTM auction in html mode
    2. Copy the link from your email into the clipboard
    3. Insert the link at the appropriate location within your auction description
    4. Test the link.
    5. Have fun!
  • Important hints
    1. Please do only modify the green text in the pre-generated link!
